Theories about learning styles show us that individuals differ in the way they learn and absorb information. Some learn by doing and others have a need for theory. Besides that there is variety in the learning objectives and the personality as well as style of the coach that will be appreciated. We can conclude that coaching has a high need for customization.
Each process starts with an extensive intake. During this intake we decide upon the learning objectives. Sometimes the manager of the coachee is involved in this part. We furthermore use tools to define the learning style of the coachee and to analyse the background of the learning objectives. The better we understand the coachee, the better we are able to define next steps.
If there is a match between coach and coachee and the learning objectives are defined, we are ready to start. Depending on the needs of the coachee we decide on number of sessions as well as frequency. Again, this is highly personal. Most coaching programmes are about 6 sessions. Usually we start with a meeting every 2 weeks.
Our approach:
- Pragmatic use of validated instruments (for more information check Ingrediënts).
- Coaching session either with 1 or 2 consultants/psychologists depending on need.
- Style depending on preference coachee.
- Number of sessions and frequency depending on preference coachee.
- In between sessions available through phone and mail.
Confidentiality between coach and coachee. If relevant feedback on high level to manager. Always in consultation with coachee.
Everybody knows the expression 1+1=3. We all think it is common sense that a team knows more than one individual and that a strong teams with good spirit gets the best results. In real life however, we all have experienced that working as a team can be hard. If the pressure is on, you are busy and there is little time, spending time with your colleague to share knowledge and help each other, often is not the most natural thing to do.
Amongst the most common problems within teams are unclarity about roles, purpose, objectives and communication. As a result we often forget that the intentions of team members are good. Most people enjoy working in a team but sometimes don’t know how.
This is exactly why we love working with teams. Most of the times there is energy, commitment and enthusiasm. And eventually more understanding about individual preferences: of self and of the others.
As with individual coaching, team coaching has a high need for customization. Over the years we have identified some topics that are often relevant and perfectly suited for 1 day or 2 days sessions:
- Communication and Cooperation.
- Leadership style.
- Team Canvas: combining business and team.
- Sales style.
- Self-Management (The 9 principles).
As part of our team coaching we use tools. This basis provides us with the opportunity to deep dive in follow up sessions which could be either for the team or for the individual. Besides tools we often look for activities illustrative for team effectiveness. How do people cooperate when position, knowledge and experience are not relevant? Escape rooms appear to be a great experience. Or how about laser gaming using communication devices?
